Travel plan
Early departure from Fez to Midelt, passing through the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. We will pass through Ifrane, a city known as the Swiss of Morocco with a charming ski resort, and Azrou, an important craft center specialized in cedar wood work. After the Zad Pass (2178m / 7146ft), we will arrive at Midelt where we will make a short stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will descend towards Erfoud and Errachidia through the Ziz Valley, full of palm trees and we will follow the course of the palm grove with the best dates in Morocco. In Erfoud, the city of fossils, you can see how they are extracted from the quarries and worked into the most varied shapes.
We will continue towards the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Free afternoon to enjoy the Berber town, its people and the dunes.
Once at the accommodation, you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel at the foot of the dunes to recharge your batteries for the next day.
You will wake up early to see the sunrise. At noon we will visit a nomadic family. In the shade of a tree, you will see how Berber pizza is made and then you will taste it.
After lunch, you will rest for a while and then we will take a tour through the desert. We will tour one of the tracks used in the Paris-Dakkar Rally in 4×4; and we will visit the town of Khamlia (town of the Blacks) where we will attend a Gnawa music concert performed by a group of black Berbers originally from Sudan and sub-Saharan Africa, the Mifiss mines and we will meet the Berber nomads of the desert.
At the end of the day, you can have dinner, listen to the sound of drums in the desert night and sleep in a tent in a nomadic camp.
After returning on camels and having a shower and breakfast, we will head to Rissani, an important city of food, animals and crafts. We will visit its market, stop to take photographs and have a quiet tea.
We will head towards N'kob for lunch and finally, we will cross the Draa Valley until we reach our accommodation in a hotel in Zagora.
Early departure to the Draa Valley, we will pass through the town of Agdez and stop by the Anti Atlas Mountains to take photographs until we reach our accommodation in Ouarzazate.
We will visit Ouarzazate, its magnificent film studios and its Taourirt kasbah.
We will continue to a walled city called Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO; where we will discover its most famous kasbah where films such as Gladiator, The Mummy and Babel among many others were filmed. We will then continue to the top of the Atlas, crossing the 2260 meter T'ichka Pass. We will make stops to take photographs until our arrival in Marrakech to a Riad in Marrakech where we will stay.
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit Marrakech with a local guide. A city full of life where there are great and interesting things to visit such as:
- Medina: with narrow streets, full of smells, feelings... leather and metal souks...
- Jamaa el Fna Square: you will find stalls selling juices, nuts... and at night, food stalls where you can enjoy typical Moroccan cuisine.
- Koutoubia Mosque: This is the most important mosque in this city.
- Bahia Palace: The construction of the palace took more than a decade, and its interior is full of majestically decorated rooms that you must see.
Finally, we will return to the Riad to stay.
Breakfast at the Riad.
Free day until the indicated time of your flight and transfer to the airport.
